Main Street Manager Position
Job Description : Downtown Indiana, Inc. seeks dynamic Main street Manager.
The Main street Manager will work in collaborative partnerships to continue the revitalization initiatives underway while expanding sustainable vitality throughout the downtown placing special emphasis on building a self-sustaining organization concentrating efforts on membership, economic development, design, promotions and fundraising.
The candidate must have an understanding of the Main street organization. He/She must be able to effectively run an office and staff; interact with the Board of Directors, volunteers, community officials and business owners. Candidates should have education and/or professional experience in one or more of the following: economic development, marketing, volunteer management, special events or nonprofit management. The manager must be entrepreneurial, energetic, imaginative, well organized and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment. Leadership skills are critical and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidates must be familiar with grant writing and have a working knowledge of QuickBooks and website management.
Salary is commensurate with experience.

Main Street Manager reports directly to the board of directors of Downtown Indiana, Inc. which is comprised of upwards of 21 members from the local community with representatives from media, financial institutions, retail business owners, restaurant owners, etc. Downtown Indiana, Inc’s Main Street Program was recently recognized as the Pennsylvania Downtown Center’s 2009 #1 Main Street program in Overall Performance and has had significant economic growth in the last 5 years. A $13 Million Streetscape Project is underway as well with significant impact to the viability and visual appeal of the downtown. Downtown Indiana, Inc. employs an experienced part time bookkeeper /administrative assistant and is in the 3rd year of its rapidly expanding Elm Street Program. Both the Elm Street Program and the Main Street Program are located in the Downtown Indiana, Inc. offices.
A Business Improvement District (BID) is being finalized and the new MSM will be responsible for completing the work necessary to implement the BID by Jan. 1, 2011. The Main Street Manager will become the BID Manager at that time overseeing the marketing and maintenance of the business district along with implementation of fundraising /promotional events and grant writing for the organization.
